The gastroenterology and hepatology departments of Dr. Jai Dev Memorial Rotary Ambala Hospital (DJMRH) are pleased to announce the success of our first-ever endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided gastrojejunostomy. This procedure was performed on a patient with metastatic periampullary carcinoma who had previously undergone biliary metal stenting three months ago at DJMRH and was undergoing chemotherapy.

The patient consulted Dr. Hardeep Singh, our specialist in gastroenterology and hepatology, with complaints of recurrent vomiting. An upper gastrointestinal endoscopy revealed that the cancer had extended into the second part of the duodenum, causing a gastric outlet obstruction. Dr. Singh recommended an EUS-guided gastrojejunostomy, which the patient consented to. The procedure was successfully carried out, and the patient can now consume solid foods and liquids without experiencing any vomiting.

Congratulations to Dr. Singh and his team for their remarkable achievement in performing this groundbreaking EUS-guided procedure at DJMRH!
