A 50-year-old woman who had previously undergone gallbladder removal (cholecystectomy) visited Dr. Jai Dev Memorial Rotary Ambala Hospital (DJMRH) with a large stone blocking her distal Common Bile Duct (CBD). Dr. Hardeep Singh, a gastroenterologist and hepatologist, reviewed her case and recommended an ERCP-guided cholangioscopy combined with lithotripsy. This non-invasive procedure uses an endoscope for direct visualization of the bile ducts, while shock waves help break down the stone, making it easier to pass. After discussing the treatment with her family, they agreed to proceed. The procedure was successful, and the patient could return home the next day. This approach helped her avoid a more complex open surgery, offering a faster and safer recovery. It was the second case of an advanced procedure performed at DJMRH by the gastroenterology and hepatology team.
